A melancholic sound, and what I describe as a definite 'New Zealand beat', Fountain City is the backing track for autumn. Filled with everything from drunken Hamilton girls in uncomfortable shoes, to depressed punk-rockers - influences from Belle and Sebastian as well as great New Zealand bands such as The Muttonbirds and The Bats is obvious, and indicative of the direction Dynamo Go is going.-- The Whaling Ship.
There is also some great musicianship, shifting from indie pop all the way through to soft melodies, verging on ballads. All in all the subtle and simple pop melodies juxtaposed with a dark satiric humour create a wonderful tension, beautifully colouring the catchy songwriting.-- NZ Musician Magazine
